Overflow
Exhibition: “Art as a lifelong journey”
It is one of my greatest delights to be able to go into my studio and just play intuitively with watercolour paint and water. The results are always unforeseen. I have no expectation of creating a painting that ‘works’. Overflow is a larger version of a piece that was painted in one of my play sessions. The first was on watercolour paper and this one was done on an Ampersand board not designed for watercolour, which meant a few challenges during the painting process.
I love that the colours flow and run on the surface, only guided by me by tilting the board or adding extra water in places. The abstract nature of the painting is to me, suggestive of a rushing waterfall. But maybe you see something different?
