Studio Workshop: Spring Gardens in Watercolour

Step into the vibrant world of springtime gardens in this joyful watercolour workshop. Explore the beauty of fresh blossoms, delicate foliage, and dappled light as we capture the essence of a flourishing garden in full bloom.

Learn techniques for painting soft floral forms, layering transparent washes, and adding expressive details to create lively, light-filled compositions. Perfect for artists who want to celebrate the season with colour, freshness, and creativity!

Morning session: Harmonious Groupings of Colour

Inspired by Toowoomba’s stunning public gardens, this first session invites you to explore the joy of re-creating their beauty in watercolour. Rather than focusing on individual flowers, we’ll paint harmonious groupings of colour—capturing the sweeping violets, soft whites, and delicate pinks that define spring’s floral abundance.

 Afternoon session: Height Composition

Drawing again from our Carnival gardens, we’ll introduce a sense of height to our composition with elegant violet Delphiniums, complemented by a variety of vibrant blooms and lush foliage to complete the scene.

Roslyn Hartwig uses a step-by-step demonstration method in her classroom to guide students through the drawing process until they have completed their work. Courses often include exercises and visual 'play' to enhance learning and creativity. Her workshops promote a relaxed and fun environment that challenges you to practice the technical aspects of watercolour. Roslyn encourages students to embrace the learning curve, emphasizing that perfection is not expected when trying a new technique for the first time.
